Hi, I am Shelby VanSickel. This is my first year at Moberly Area Community College. I am majoring in General Health Sciences to get my prerequisites finished before I go to dental school. I plan to attend Indian Hills Community College for my Dental Assistant certificate and Dental Hygiene license. After that, I plan to finish with my Bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene at the University of Missouri- Kansas City.
The Genius Project is a wonderful idea that involves students truly on what they are interested in. Not only is it fun to see what everyone else is interested in, but it's also a great example of self-interest by expressing your own thoughts through a project while being able to show your results to classmates. I have a big, vintage flower pot and my idea is to plant a few sunflowers. Sunflowers are my favorite flower, and not only are they pretty, but they help improve the life of honeybees. Honeybees are constantly getting killed and they are so beneficial to humans and the environment. What I plan to get out of this is to be able to grow my first patch of sunflowers and to educate myself a little more on honeybees.
Throughout this experience, I first plan to start off by researching. I plan to research what soil is best, what seeds are the most beneficial, and where is the best place to purchase these items. I plan to work on this project a few times of the week, especially now that warmer weather is just around the corner.
